Recent years have been marked by the emergence of varying studies about the use of English for the communication of speakers from different nationalities – i.e. whose first languages diverge from one another. Hence the unanimity in affirming that English has become something like an “international language” – after all, it has been chosen, in many occasions, simply because it happens to be the only common language for speakers to effectively communicate with one another.
